DAT & data DDS tapes - we specialise in transfer / conversion of data files from tape cartridge to CD / DVD or another hard drive. Commonly they were saved using Retrospect on the Apple Mac, or Backup exec on Windows PC. This also includes extracting DAT Digital Audio to Wav files.
Dat stands for digital audio tape, however due to data density in computer storage / archiving requirements a higher grade tape DDS (Digital Data Storage) is used. It uses a 4 mm magnetic tape in a cassette approximately 73 mm,54 mm,10.5 mm. The data file is transferred to the tape using helical scan method - the data is written across the width of the tape to record data. The tape is contained entirely within the DAT cartridge, reducing the chance of contamination. DAT tapes are used for file backup, data archives and data transfer.
